Andrew and Dina share a strong love and karmic connection to Antigua and its people which is beautifully expressed in their art. Visiting their Studios offers an intimate glimpse into their creative world.

Born in Solihull, England in 1951, Andrew studied architecture at Edinburgh University and the Architectural Association in London, where he trained under leading figures including Rick Mather and Rem Koolhaas. He established his own practice in Fulham in 1976, focusing on residential and studio work. In 1979, he sailed across the Atlantic, arriving in Antigua in 1980, where he went on to build a long-standing architectural practice centred on residential and boutique resort projects.

Now transitioning into a more personal creative phase, Andrew will go back to his life long passion for drawings and landscape paintings.

I was born in Parma, Italy in 1971 and started painting in oil at eleven years old, when my Dad gifted me my first set of colours. Like most parents of his generation, he wished that art would remain my hobby, insisting that, too many artists in history had died poor and mad! How could I disagree, when one of my idols has always been, the 17th century Italian master Caravaggio.

To respect my Dad's wishes, I attended four years of Scientific Lycee, only to realize with most clarity that painting was my real heart passion and, no matter what, I wished to make it into a lifelong profession. Because of various circumstances I could never complete an entire Arts degree, but happily pieced together my training mostly copying from the old masters and attending a few Atelier style courses at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris and portraiture from life at the Charles Cecil's Studio in Florence.

In my early twenties I started painting large murals commissions around Europe, North America and the Caribbean. In 1995, while decorating a beautiful villa in Antigua, called "Casa di Sogni D'Oro" or "House of Golden Dreams", I met Andrew, the architect. It was love at first sight and the rest is history. In 1999 I started the most amazing life with Andrew at Rotten Hill, where my passion for art flourished, blessed with ongoing commissions as well as time to paint my own subjects. People say that my ability to portray any subject directly from my heart is unique, whether painting a street dog or beloved pet, a scene from the villages of Antigua or a close friend, each one of my characters emerging from the canvas with the most compassionate touch.
